“The second release from South London’s LV on 2nd Drop. This one is a little different, you might say more international. Basking in the afterglow of their much hyped Kwaito-inspired Boomslang on Hyperdub last year, the LV trio chills things all the way out and turn up the soul for this release. A recording session at the Red Bull studios in Cape Town saw LV record a number of vocal collaborations with the honey-voiced South African soul singer Zaki Ibrahim. Also part of this collaboration is a young ambient folky band from Oxford called Message to Bears. After discovering them on YouTube trying to make more dubstep / electronic music, 2nd Drop saw the opportunity to link the disparate groups together. Explode was the result.”
